I have site where when users close browser  it is not recognized in database therfore session never ends and they are seen as logged in all the time. any ideas as to what I could do.

I tried to  set a session.on_end event in the global.asa and then write code to be execute on that.... but i couldnt get it to work.

This is my first attempt and i will admit I am not sure I know what I am doing . LOL any help would be appreciated.

I suggest using cookies and not using global.asa
you can set the cookie to expire whenever you like (the next day or a week later, etc)

To create a cookie:

Response.Cookies("NAME_OF_COOKIE") = SOME_VARIABLE
Response.Cookies("NAME_OF_COOKIE").Expires=#December 31,2010#

To read a cookie:
varUsername=Request.Cookies("NAME_OF_COOKIE")

iam dealling with the same prob, but i thought of a different way,

in the database i created a table for monitoring the users movement, each time the users surf through the pages it records the time, this way i can know when was the last time the user had moved in my site, so i wrote a procedure that will check that table for users that their last movment was an hour ago or more

and this procedure runs every time the login page was opened.

this way i would throw the users that havnt changed their page for more than one hour, as if they had closed the browser, or forgot it open for more than one hour
