I'm really struggling to get some intelligent grouping in my reporting. I have a three pronged heirarchy, thus:

Business Area 1
   Process Name 1
      Procedure 1
      Procedure 2

Business Area 1
   Process Name 2
      Procedure 6
      Procedure 7

Etc. Now basically I've absolutely no idea how to group the output in such a loop-fashion that it cycles through the the business area, the process name and then lists all procedures within that process name (within that business area).

Any ideas anyone? I'm sure it's dead easy, but I'm blowed if I can find anything on the web, hence my keeness to get on fora (? the plural of forum??!?)

Deggsie.

it's definetly not dead easy...

I also seriously doubt your going to get an answer to such a broad question with a serious lack of explanation about what code you are using and what you are really doing.. etc etc

Sorry again, I just assumed that being on PowerASP and Classic ASP - General it was obvious I code in ASP and use SQL DBs.

Basically I have been told in the past to use one recordset for each group level. So in this example I'd need three recordsets. One for Business Area, one for Process and one for Procedure. This is all well and good, but how do I get the Process recordset to only display those values required using the Business Area ID as a filter...?

So, back to my original question, how do I get groupings in reporting?

In case you've dropped off since the start of this post, I code in ASP and use SQL DBs...

Thanks.

What a disappointment.

I thought there would be enough knowledge out there to tap into, yet it seems something that is too easy to do in MSAccess can't be done in ASP.

Does anyone want to explain to me the benefits of ASP then, if it can't do something simple like grouping?
